These photographs are from an un-catalogued collection at Northamptonshire Record Office. All relate to Moulton College, formerly the Northamptonshire Institute of Agriculture. This selection appear to have been taken by the Ministry of Information. Several appear in Vita Sackvillle-West’s book and are marked as crown copyright. Most of the photos have the same annotation:-
“The Women’s Land Army has developed out of all recognition, every day fresh recruits report for training, typists, shop assistants, clerks change their identity overnight’ with a additional note specific to each picture.
A few pictures without annotation seem to relate to a Pathe news film of a visit to inspect the Girls by HRH the Duchess of Gloucester who lived in the county
Several appear to document the career at the Institute of one girl Iris Joyce.
