Land Girl reminiscence: “In the summer evenings during my Land Army days I helped with hay-making and harvest.”
“In the summer evenings during my Land Army days I helped with hay-making and harvest. During my first summer I helped make the stack with the foreman, and when we had about three-quarters made, it slowly began to tip over, and we both slid to the ground. It took many years for that foreman to live that down – he was constantly asked what he was doing on the stack for it to be so badly made!”
